Apart from the basics, should we bring anything else to the hospital for the birth?

Non-essential items to consider include something to distract you and your partner during labour, as it can be a long process. Books, games, music magazines or whatever you like to entertain you. Mobile phones/computers are not recommended as they can interfere with hospital equipment and are generally discouraged. If you want to record the birth, bring a camera (and batteries). Bring plenty of change for the phone/coffee machines. Food and drink as well as a change of clothes for your other half is recommended. Cushions or bean bags is also something to consider, but check first as your delivery ward may supply them.
