When I come into hospital in labour, what sort of medical things will they do? |
Routinely, your temperature, pulse, blood pressure and urine will all be checked so a base line record is in place agaist which to judge your well-being throughout labour. The midwife will want to feel your tummy to check the frequency and strength of contractions and the position of the baby. A 20 minute trace of the baby''s heartbeat will be recorded to ensure all is well. An internal examination will be done to establish if indeed you are in labour.
